To BY from DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} c. to HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} X3421 X4340 RE 40/50 CHASSIS - BONNET. In reply to your BY7/P30-3-21 it appeared to us that in adding ferodo with the necessary slots to take the interlacing, bolts etc., we were simply adding expense and weight to our already excessively costly and heavy chassis, and therefore we ought to take off, if possible, something to counterbalance it. We thought that the experiment would be worth trying without the brass strips for this reason, though we quite appreciate there is an element of doubt in it, but the ferodo as made should not give a bad contact with aluminium, and we think it is quite probable that the aluminium will stand it.
