[STAMPED: RECEIVED] X4050 Wd{Mr Wood/Mr Whitehead}1/NJ.3.6.21. Dunlop Straight-side Tyres. Following the conversation I had with you by 'phone on the 1st inst. I wrote the Dunlop Rubber Co.Ltd. as follows:- "Referring to the conversation which the subscriber "had with you yesterday, we have pleasure in stating that "we are quite prepared to forthwith test out a set of "'Straight-side Tyres, 33" x 5", which have been produced "commercially and not experimentally, and report the "results to you, provided you supply the tyres and inner "tubes to us free of charge." "On the assumption that this correctly records the "proposal submitted to the subscriber yesterday, we shall "be glad if you will send us as soon as possible a set of "six tyres and inner tubes for the purpose of this test. "When the test is completed, the tyres and inner tubes to "be returned to you in the condition they then are." This morning we have a letter from the Dunlop Co. acknowledging receipt of our letter and stating that, as arranged, they are forwarding to us one set of six 33" x 5" straight-side cord tyres, for us to test out and will be glad to have a report of the result in due course. In the same letter the Dunlop Co. remark that they understand that we are quite satisfied with this type of tyre, having already tested, and would therefore press us to consider, at an early date, the adoption of same as our standard equipment, seeing that greater durability and resiliency will be obtained in addition to economy through increased mileage.
