SECRET. E/Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}7/MN.2.2.37. 200B 427 To BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} Copy to Er. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} H.O.C. HPS.{Horace Percy Smith - Experimental Factory Mgr} Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/FLS.{F. Llewellyn Smith - Frames} Bentley III Frame. We informed you verbally through BY/Cgh{W Clough} that further modifications were necessary to LeC.5456 showing the side members of the frame for Bentley III as the result of a last minute visit by Messrs.Rubery Owen, during which they rather contradicted their previous statements of the possibility of fitting together the two side channels. We ourselves had always imagined this to be an unlikely scheme but at the outset they said they could do it and were doing it. They now ask us to revert to the Hillman Minx section in which the top welding flange is horizontal and the lower welding flange vertical. We have altered LeC.5456 and re-issue it to you herewith. At the same time this modification has enabled us to widen the back of the frame without spreading the road spring centres. The thickness of the frame side members is intended to be .080" SWG.14. Would you kindly issue the necessary prints, withdrawing all existing prints bearing this number. Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} Att:LeC.5456. | ||
