Referring to the above car and the fitting of stiffer axle shafts, I am interested and pleased to note from the Report that the special stiff half shafts have given a marked improvement in transmission smoothness on take-up and there have been no transmission rattles as experienced previously.

I am, however, also very much interested to know what effect it has had on the clutch as, if I remember correctly, we understood that stiffer axle shafts effected a great improvement on the clutch.

Has any alteration been made to the clutch since the car was running prior to the stiffer axle shafts being used?

The previous reports seemed to refer to jagger when hot especially when reversing; take-up causing rattle in transmission; engagement brings up a transmission rattle etc.

There is also in one report a complaint of the smell and on this point I should like to know how the material on this car compares with production.

As there will be a chassis conference on Tuesday I should be glad if you could collect as much information as possible on the subject prior to then.
