This car was dealt with at the Works Repair Dept. for a thump that Kingsbury could not get rid of. We understand that a new crankshaft was put into the engine and modification C. carried out. The owner sent the car again to Kingsbury for very poor oil consumption. The Kingsbury test for the oil consumption came out at 160 m.p.g. The lubricating holes in the con rods were plugged up and a high pressure scraper ring fitted. The oil consumption test showed 1200 m.p.g. The valves were not touched.
