X8820 FILES. 14.3.33. J.III TYPE SHOCK DAMPERS. "DECELERATION" TESTS. X235 RR.SCH.284. BELLOWS IN CONJUNCTION WITH GOVERNOR CONTROL UNIT. DAMPER STROKE 1". With the damper speed maintained at 90 r.p.m. the governor speed was adjusted to the equivalent of 30 m.p.h. a diagram taken and the governor speed then increased to 80 m.p.h., and again a diagram was obtained. The governor speed was then reduced as quickly as possible from 80 to 30 m.p.h. and the time taken by the damper indicator to reproduce the 30 m.p.h. recorded. The above procedure was also repeated at 180, and 360 r.p.m. with the following results :- [TABLE] DAMPER SPEED R.P.M. | Time-secs - 80 to 30 m.p.h. | Governor. | Damper. | Time lag between Governor & Damper. 90 | 4 | 19 | 15 180 | 4 | 14 | 10 360 | 4 | 15 | 11 [END TABLE] Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/W.Bell. | ||
