35-EX - STEERING.

We are sending out to you some special springs and other parts for the rear end of the side steering tube in 35-EX. We attach herewith a print Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}330 showing the arrangement of these parts.

The object of these parts is to give more spring movement than you have at present (0.230 against 0.120) with the same rating in lbs per inch, with the idea of overcoming joggling on corners, of which you complain.

The packing shims should be selected to give a compression of 0.003 - 0.005 on each spring in the normal position, i.e., the rear guide should project 0.006 - 0.010 before the end cap is screwed on.

Will you please fit these to 35-EX.

Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/FJH.{Fred J. Hardy - Chief Dev. Engineer}
