SEQUENCE STARTER MOTOR PROTECTION FROM WATER. From time to time we have suggested that provision should be made to prevent water getting inside the bearing bracket end of the P.2. starter motor. We know of two actual failures due to ingress of water when negotiating flood water and rain swept roads, and we have had occasion to examine the starter motor off chassis 27-EX which has the armature trigger switch contact spring and the contact screw badly rusted. To make the motor water tight it would require either the small motor undershield waterproof or the commutator cover joint to the motor carcase making waterproof. We should be glad if you will have instructed a water proofed motor which we could then try out under wet conditions. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/HEW. | ||
