S/W. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}..from PN.{Mr Northey} Copy to Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} X766 PN.{Mr Northey}1/WT7.6.29. Chassis No. 21-EX. In reply to your letter Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}2/LG6.6.29 which I have discussed with Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} we agree that during the time the car will be in London it can be looked upon as being here with a view to a series of amateur driving tests, but directly this car accompanies me to France in connection with certain important tests in the mountains the conditions will be quite different. I am proposing to make tests of the car's performance under strenuous conditions in summer temperature in the mountains around Grenoble, tests which in our opinion should be made in any case, whether conducted by myself or the Experimental Department alone. We think therefore that it is important that the representative of the Experimental Department shall be with me. We understand that Whyman has been proposed by you in order that the assistance and co-operation of your Department to that extent can be given in making any tests which PN.{Mr Northey} may consider desirable and helpful." We do not propose to deal with the various details connected with the removal of this car to Boulogne where it will meet me on Saturday the 22nd instant, and would prefer that as already arranged you will deal with these please."
