CAMSHAFT TO L.O.P. E.78987. E.80598 CAMSHAFT 2% NICKEL CASE HARDENING STEEL.-

The appearance of the cam faces is quite normal. Heavy rubbing marks are apparent on the cams, but no wear can be detected.

MAGNETO AND DYNAMO DRIVES TO L.O.P. E.79067.-

The drive is in good condition and has not caused any trouble during the runs.

IGNITION GOVERNOR TO L.O.P. E.78992.-

The governor has operated satisfactorily, full advance position has been maintained at high speed when it was extremely hot. The filter was perfectly clean when examined, which shows that the Auto Kleen is filtering the oil satisfactorily.

VACUUM PUMP TO L.O.P. E.78998.-

The Vacuum pump has operated satisfactorily. There has been no failure of petrol supply down to the last gallon in the tank.

WATER PUMP TO L.O.P. E.79093 - LeC. 2789.-

There has been no leak of water from the gland.

OIL PUMP TO L.O.P. E.78890.-

There has been no failure of oil pressure, a feature attributed to the Auto Kleen. The pump becomes noisy when the oil is hot.

OIL RELIEF VALVE TO L.O.P. E.78889, LeC. 2791, SCH. 1247/8.-

It has not been necessary to dismantle the relief valve during the mileage, as no failure of oil pressure has taken place.

FAN TO L.O.P. E.79092.-

The fan is mechanically sound. It has been necessary to take out three links of the fan belt owing to its strecthing, the belt having been kept almost choc-a-bloc to obtain maximum cooling efficiency during the hot weather. The rubber canvas belt fitted on 23-EX maintained its efficiency much longer without having to be tightened up.

ENGINE COUPLING TO L.O.P. G.77903. SPECIAL HARDY FABRIC COUPLING 'A' ASSEMBLED TO DRG. G.78463 (HAND RIVETTED).-

The special Hardy fabric disc does not show any signs of fatigue. A feature which may cause it to deteriorate is oil from the front bearing in the gear box being flung on to it.
