Experimental Dept. Rm {William Robotham - Chief Engineer} /Std.4/MH. {M. Huckerby} 15th. September 1938. Messrs. John Marston Ltd., WOLVERHAMPTON. For the attention of Mr.Dunn. Dear Sirs, We wish to confirm the telephone message which Mr.Dunn left for the writer yesterday, that the next Bentley III radiator complete will be finished by the end of this month, that is to say, September 30th. We have decided to modify the matrix plate of the Bentley III radiator, which you have already supplied, here at our works to avoid the delay in despatching same to you. We are anxious to get some up-to-date figures for matrix dissipation compared with matrix depth on your latest Mk.VI matrix, the only figures we have are two or three years old, and in the main refer to Mk.V. matrices. We should be very glad if you could let us have a curve showing the heat dissipation per square foot degree Centigrade (temperature difference between the inlet air and inlet water) variation with matrix thickness, from say, 2" to approximately 4½" or 5" depth. This information is required within a week or ten days, if possible, to assist us with the design of radiators which we are completing at the moment and can presumably be obtained from your experimental test plant. Will you please get in touch with the writer and let him know whether you can do anything for us in this direction. We will shortly return to you the Bentley III matrix unit which we brought back from Wolverhampton on Monday. Will you please confirm that the writer left with you up-to-date prints of pieces EB.3868/9 which have been modified recently. We attach herewith also EB.3790 stiffening piece yoke which has been altered also, together with EB.3673 | ||
