A.C.M. N/L No. (123) 23. SPECIAL REPORT.
EXPERIMENTAL REPORT. -5- Expl. No. REF: CS12/Crn14.8.25.

Servo A servo gears.

The servo has jaggered on several occasions. We have dismantled this, but apart from a slight increased clearance in cams the servo and mechanism appears to be quite O.K. There is no undue slack in any of the bearings that we can find. The charge rattles at speeds of 12-18, 20, 22-28, and 30-33 mph. A slight one has also developed at 42-47 m.p.h. The servo rattle at 27-28 m.p.h. is considerable when the box is hot. We have had no occasion of thumping on front brakes when applying the brakes.

Pedals, 'D' type to L.O.P. F.53506.

Spring F.53534 fitted to brake pedal. These are O.K. Clutch pedal bearing is on the slack side. Stop fitted to foot brake pedal fouls rod when fully depressed. We believe that this is a temporary stop fitted.

Starter motor.

This generally does not engage on first application; the motor spinning round without the gear engaging. This appears to be perfectly free on the thread. We get a leak of oil from the rear cover of housing. This oil is flung by the pocket of the starter motor sprocket, which, when hot, leaks through flange. Condition of starter motor is O.K.

Rear axle.

This O.K. At low speeds, approx. 4 m.p.h., there is a vibration, which is felt throughout the car.

Rear brake mechenism and drums.

N.S. and O.S. brake shoes and mechenism are in good condition. The O.S. drum is slightly scored. N.S. drum is O.K.

Rear road springs and shackle bearings.

From outside examination these appear to be in good condition.

Rear shock absorbers.

These are working quite satisfactory, and are in good condition.

Propeller shaft.

New standard coupling cover, flange, trunnion, etc. G.51094/G.50289/G.50291 fitted to shaft.

Universal joints appear to be O.K. No slack can be felt in the joints. There is a slight oil leak contd :-
