EXPERIMENTAL REPORT -6- Expl. No. REF Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/GWH{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux}2/Crm14825 from front cover of shaft. We are investigating the max. amount of oil required to lubricate this joint, without causing a leak. On max. bump lubricator at rear of propeller shaft has fouled floorboards. The universal coupling at front end of propeller shaft - the locking plate on same fouls rear brake foot equalising shaft when max. deflection of rear springs takes place. It has ground a small hollow underneath the tube. Side hand brake mechanism. We have had no trouble with this, and it is in good condition. Electrical fittings. These are O.K. generally. The body of the rear lamp was shaken off, and lost. The locking device of this lamp does not appear to be strong enough to stand the shocks it receives on the road. Electrical cut-out has functioned O.K. The points are in a very good condition. Accumulator suspension. Temporary battery box and support to Drg. F.53198. These are O.K. Exhaust silencer, and brackets. The lagging on silencer has started to bulge out in the centre. Brackets and bolts are in a sound condition. Exhaust swan neck and spout. These are in good condition. There is a boom from exhaust on overrun. Also the note from the exhaust gives one the impression that it is crippled somewhat. Petrol tank and fittings. There is a slight leak of petrol from flange on centre of tank. Fittings and tank are O.K. Rear spare wheel carrier. This is still in good condition. We have not experienced any trouble with spare wheel tyre becoming loose. Side spare wheel bracket. This is quite O.K. contd :- | ||
