6119. DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}2/G.2.11.38. C. Pn.{Mr Northey} CHILDS IGNITION DISTRIBUTOR. See me GM Herewith D.CD.986 being a design for a commutator type of make and break. This arrangement is for experimental trial only, to ascertain defects, if any, as compared with the orthodox contact lever type of breaker. We have shown an earthing brush fitted to ensure commutator being connected electrically to earth without relying on bearings which may or may not be good connectors. We should like tests to be made with and without this brush. On sheet 2 of this scheme, we have shown one method of fitting this breaker, made at RR, to an existing Lucas governor unit.
