TO BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} FROM E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} SECRET. E1/M25. 2. 24. Copy to - CH. HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} A.{Mr Adams} C.111. MAGNETO IGNITION WIRING. X 9560 We send herewith a blue print of LeC. 1838., shewing a proposal we have sent to Mr. Royce for the above. The idea of this scheme is to minimise the amount of alteration to the chassis, and to avoid interfering with the electric starter switch. You will see that all we have done is to insert a plate between the starter switch and the dashboard which has an arm carrying the lower end of a vertical tube of bakelite micarta. The upper end of this tube is carried by a gun metal clip. This clip is exactly similar to the one used on the first series of Goshawks. The present wire carriers on the induction pipe have been utilised and we think there is just room for a fourth wire in the rear tube passing to No. 4. sparking plug. We are awaiting Mr. Royce's comments on this scheme, but at the same time we are sending him an alternative proposal for carrying the vertical wiring tube on the cover of the starter switch by means of a clip secured with a swing bolt. Mr. Rowledge has seen this drawing on the occasion of his last visit to WW. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} | ||
