To Hd.{Mr Hayward/Mr Huddy} X5770 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}7/KW.4.7.34. GYZ-18. Commander Holbrook. We have discussed this matter with Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} He is in agreement that we can do very little to improve the performance of this car with the existing specification. We have no higher compression cylinder head available for the 20/25. The only modification which we can think of which will give the customer any real result is to fit the new type carburetter and at the same time lower the axle ratio by using smaller wheels. Our own opinion, however, is that it is quite impossible to obtain a good performance from a 20/25 weighing 38 cwts. and that the thing to do is to try and get Commdr. Holbrook to buy a Bentley. Fitting the new type carburetter to the 20/25 is distinctly complicated as it necessitates new controls in the steering column.
