1158. Experimental Dept. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Std.1/MH.{M. Huckerby} 10th. December 1938. The Leyland & Birmingham Rubber Co. Ltd., Leyland, LANCS. For the attention of Mr. Gollop. Dear Sirs, Herewith please find pring SCD.1042 showing a proposed drive for a car heater, from a small electric motor to a separately mounted fan. Will you please let us know what you think of the practicability of vulcanising a rubber sleeve to the two steel (or brass) adaptor pieces shown, and also let us know how quickly you could send us a sample if we let you have detail drawings and the machined adaptor pieces. The word vulcanising is used to denote sticking of the rubber sleeve to the metal, in whatever manner you use - any suggestions as to how we can help in this matter by modifying designs will be acceptable. Yours faithfully, for ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. | ||
