X7350 R/W. Corr. from PN.{Mr Northey} Copy to C. By He. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} PH.5/WT25.10.33. Sir Norman Watson. 38-MY. This owner called here to-day and was greatly disappointed to learn that his wish in respect of a second battery being fitted to his car cannot be carried out by us. You will remember the battery was required to meet the special conditions of his use of his Rolls-Royce car when in the mountains, and he proposed to get the two batteries charged mostly be independent means. He stated that his wishes in this respect were carried out on his big Minerva car where the same trouble arose that the dynamo was not able to keep his battery charged, and the arrangement gave every satisfaction. Sir Norman Watson is looking around in order to get the job done by some other firm, and I can only hope that he will succeed in getting the work done in a manner suitably for a Rolls-Royce. Meanwhile this owner is keen on increasing the braking of his front wheels. He is a very fast driver and I think this is a case where it would be an undoubted advantage to have the modified lever such as is being fitted to our two demonstration cars, thus enabling the braking to be divided between the front and the back wheels in a proportion of fifty/fifty. I understand this car is fitted with the cast-iron brake drums of its series, and therefore there should be no difficulty about doing this. Will you please advise me when you have sent to N. the necessary modified parts in order that I can tell Sir Norman Watson that we are ready to make the variation. PH. | ||
