X.2894 - TUNGSTEN CONTACT POINTS.

Herewith we hand to you one dozen used battery ignition contact breaker levers and point screws.

It is desired to have these fitted up with the large dia, (.175") tungsten points similar to a dozen which we had previously. It appears that in this previous case the tungsten points were actually obtained from Messrs. W.H. Reynolds who fitted up the contact point screws for us and provided 12 additional points for the levers. The levers with the 12 additional points were then sent to Messrs. Johnson Matthey and were fitted up by them, as referred to in their letter ref. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} of 3.9.25, copy attached.

It would appear that it might be more expedient to get Messrs. W.H. Reynolds to do the whole job.

We have not noticed any irregularity due to the want of finish to which Messrs. Johnson Matthey refer.

However they are done, we would like this dozen to be exactly representative of what we should receive in quantity should we standardise the use of these points.

In this connection it is necessary to have the screw point only ground to a small sphericity, or dome, just sufficient to take up any want of correct bedding of the otherwise flat surfaces. This we have ourselves done on the 12 previously received, and found it more satisfactory than attempting to run the points with
