We thank you for your telegram, and note that a further 5.000 miles is required. We have resumed the mileage this morning having made a lengthy examination and alterations to the car. The clutch plate saw cuts have been thouroughly smoothed. The pistons were white washed and thouroughly tested. Valves reground in, as seatings were pitted. Propellor shaft joint taken apart and examined, all brake drums taken off examined, refitted, found pilot shoes had been left solid, set with .008" movement. Servo dismantled examined. All dampers taken off checked, found front had been set to 110 lbs, rear 70 lbs. We have altered the loading to front 70 lbs with .010 permanant leak, rear 90 lbs with .020 leak. The car is riding steadier and better balanced with this setting. We found the torque reaction dampers doing nothing. The N.S. plates were distorted and had not been properly fitted. We have made these correct and put the friction load up to 30-40 lbs. The result is, a 50% less movement of the wings. The engine period at 3.750 has allmost vanished, an allround improvement. The new jets have been fitted. Tyre tests will follow in due course. Radiator shutters etc.

The petrol pumps were still unsatisfactory during the early mornings run, stopped pumping twice.
