TEST OF STANDARD IR-PLATINUM POINTS WITH
40/50 MICA CONDENSER OF LARGER CAPACITY.

The bench test of the above two items, ir-platinum points IPQ and 40/50 mica condenser IM, is now completed, the equivalent of 10,500 miles having been run.

From the commencement, up to 4,824 miles, the test was made under standard conditions, with the distributor running at a speed corresponding to 30 m.p.h. After this, however, owing to the Goshawk rig being run at the same time, the speed was raised to that corresponding to 39 m.p.h.

The capacity of the condenser taken before the test was .317 mfds. and again at the end of the test, was found to be .312 mfds.

No trouble was experienced with the points, the sparking at the gaps being regular right to the end. As will be seen, a clean smooth lump has formed on the lever point, and a corresponding depression on the screw point. With the exception of the make ratio being once adjusted the points were not touched during the whole of the run.
