To Mr. from c. to TD. c. to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} X35748 EL/M27.9.22. CH 20.H.P. CLUTCH. Y2864 We send you herewith drawings Nos. Led 1625 & 6, shewing the above. With regard to the former we would draw your attention to the spring pads behind the fabric which are intended to replace the present device of springing the clutch plate itself for the purpose of getting a smooth engagement. We think a note should be added in the instruction book to the effect that the amount of plunger protruding from the outside of the clutch is an indication of the amount that the fabric has worn. You will notice that these spring plungers have only limited stroke and that as the clutch wears they will gradually move inwards. Washers are provided under the main spring housings which can be removed when the clutch is worn beyond a certain point, so as to set-up the springs to the original pressure. Alternative springs are provided with which the clutch should be tested. The second drawing shews the manner in which the clutch should be demounted from the chassis. The information regarding this should be incorporated in the instruction book. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} | ||
