LONDON. W.3.

Dear Sirs,

For the attention of Major Searight.

We thank you for your letter of the 4th inst.

Since we wrote to you Mr. Royce has decided that he is not going to alter the rear tank of the car for the time being, and in consequence our hopes of getting an improved gauge are not going to be realized for the time being. As a matter of fact, if the tank is not altered, we do not see how we can alter the gauge and should like your confirmation that, given a free hand there is no move you would like to make utilising the existing tank.

We are sorry to have caused you what may have been unecessary trouble, but it is possible that the tank may be altered at some future date.

Yours faithfully,

For Rolls-Royce Ltd.
