It would be also beneficial if we could move the unit forward as near as possible to the ideal position in the tank from a fore and aft point of view, i.e. a quarter from the front edge, and three quarters from the back edge of the tank.

Pending news from you as to whether the American model of vented tank unit can be easily got at in this country, we are making a mock-up of the unit as regards area sizes for vent etc., so that we may test this in conjunction with the head intended for your trials, to assure ourselves and demonstrate to you that even with an excess pressure of as much as 1 to 2 lbs. to the square inch introduced by some unforeseen means on the petrol entering the tank, that the head is safe and the tank and bell vents have sufficient area for discharging to atmosphere.

We think this opportunity for getting the unit placed centrally incorporated in the tank vent is very opportune, and if it can be done it will be to our mutual benefit.

In the meantime we are working on the problem, and will write you further if you will let us know what prospects there are with regard to the tank design, and also access to the American car.

Yours faithfully,

H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} M.{Mr Moon / Mr Moore} HOBSON, LTD.,

T.P.Searight.

Joint Managing Director.
