HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} 877709 To DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}/EV{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} from Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} re Sir Henry Segrave. SgS/26.2.30. Copy to Ldse. C. P.II. Gen. Wks. M.{Mr Moon / Mr Moore} Re your EV{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}1/1.1.30. I have just seen Sir Henry Segrave's car with the altered dashboard. Frankly I am bitterly disappointed with it and am sorry to know that there is such a car in existence. It is a distorted RR/ so far as appearance is concerned, and the back and of the bonnet gives the appearance of having been squashed down by some very heavy weight. I really feel that, before we build another car with amended dimensions from our present standard, we should have a mock-up before we build a complete car. I am quite sure that, if we had seen a mock-up of the bonnet and radiator as on Segrave's car, it would never have been allowed to come into existence. I should like it, therefore, to be clear that, before the revised radiator referred to in your memo. quoted above is put in hand a mock-up is made and submitted for approval, and I should like to see at the same time an exhaust alteration with the radiator having tapered sides like on the 20/25.
