The procurement of untested radiator matrices from supplier John Marstons.

With reference to Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Std.3/MH.{M. Huckerby}11.12.37. we consider that it will be necessary to obtain a months supply of matrices (approx: 80 off) from John Marstons before a decision can be made as to what saving is likely to accrue by purchasing these parts in an untested condition. Unless a reasonably good standard of workmanship is maintained by the suppliers the initial saving will be absorbed by corrections, and it is not considered practicable to fix a definite time allowance for this work on the experience of five radiators as suggested.
