Reply to be addressed to John Marston Limited for the attention of AWD/BR 30th December 1937 holtu Ry / 5100 Messrs. Rolls Royce Limited, DERBY. For the attention of Mr. Steadman. PHANTOM III RADIATOR SCHEME Dear Sirs, In reply to your letter of the 21st inst., we have now finished our examination of the alternative scheme for mounting the radiator grille. In our opinion the scheme shown on your blue print P.D.79 is going to be the most satisfactory both on a manufacturing and cost basis. We notice that on this scheme you have shown the vanes attached to the support by a small bolt and nut. We can see lots of points in favour of this method of attachment instead of rivetting. By bolting, the vanes are easily removable and any faulty vanes can be replaced. In our opinion it would be more expensive and in order to prevent the possibility of the vanes turning it would be an improvement if the bolt had a square location at the head in order to keep the vanes in line. We would like your further comments on thispoint. We are still awaiting the detailed drawings on the Bentley Radiator to enable us to prepare our quotation for the complete unit. We are now ready for the car heater details with which you have arranged to supply us and should like these as soon as possible. We have received today under cover of your letter of the 23rd inst., the drawing of your Petrol Tank F.W.1425 and we shall be very pleased to quote you for the supply of these as indicated in your letter. We have written to Mr. J.{Mr Johnson W.M.} B. Dixon informing him that we have received the blue print and that our figures are being prepared. The writer heartily reciprocates your kind wishes. Yours faithfully, FOR JOHN MARSTON LIMITED. [Signature] | ||
