TO BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} FROM DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} Copy to - CJ HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} ORIGINAL DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}3/M19.2.26. 20HP. CAST DASH. X5500 X5430 We send herewith N. scheme 2146. - Cast Dash for the 20HP. 'D' type steering. In this case the dashboard is kept in the same position as now, and we have put the recess backwards but without altering the length of the scuttle or the bonnet. In order to do this we have to come forward with the stiffening ribs cast solid with the dash in order to avoid having to widen the dashboard. As a result this dashboard can be used on existing chassis and with existing bodies, which we think will be a substantial advantage. We have endeavoured to alter the dashboard fittings as little as possible, but we have found it necessary to alter some. The Klaxon will be the proposed New PhantomCodename for PHANTOM I Klaxon for use with the cast dash, but slightly modified as regards the supporting pillar, and we suggest using the Phantom autovac tank design for the cast dash. It will be noticed that we have put the controls in the existing 'B' position. It is our intention to have only one position for these controls.
