GOSHAWK 11. FRONT WHEEL BRAKES X.44887

We send herewith N.sch.1344 shewing the modified front axle fitted with front wheel brakes. It will be seen that it follows the lines of the 40/50 except that the top lever is of the bolted on type instead of with a shank. We are sending you a similar design for the 40/50 as it is thought in some ways the former may be preferred. The wheels bearing stub axle etc. are as standard and intended to be suitable for Dunlop or Rudge Whitworth wheels but we notice that the Dunlop wheel shewn on your general arrangement drawing is not the same as that shewn on our N.sch. We are not sure quite why this is and we should like you to go over the scheme shewn on N.sch. 1344 and ascertain that the existing Dunlop wheel will go on. As in the case of the 40/50we should be glad if you would check the clearance between the cross steering lever and the brake carrier, and between the cross steering tube joint and the brake drum. We think in other respects the drawing is self explanatory.

Will you please put this in hand as we expect there will be a demand for front wheel brakes on Goshawk very shortly.

Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}
