(c. to Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}) EV{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}/DB.{Donald Bastow - Suspensions}15/JH. 790 10th. October, 1941. Burman & Sons Ltd., Ryland Road, Birmingham,15. For the attention of Mr. S. Burman. Dear Sirs, I would like once more to apologise for the delay in answering your letter of the 16th. Sept. last, ref. SG{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}/EL. this has been due to very heavy pressure of work on this office. Confirming our telephone conversation of Saturday last, the ball pin on the pendulum lever is on the side of this towards the column. PL.910, a print of which is attached, shews the scrap section through the Austin 8 steering wheel hub, and the dimensions of the present inner steering column end. Our suggestion for the corresponding end of your column follows fairly naturally from having to make the wheel boss clear your top bearing adjustment lock nuts. I hope this clarifies the position sufficiently. Yours faithfully, D.Bastow. for ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. | ||
