The above scheme shews how we wish to modify PL.687 to get the most attractive steering wheel with a cast aluminium hub. The main differences between PL.871 and PL.687 are as follows :- 1. Revised shape of hub and quadrant. 2. Number of spokes per group altered from four to three, also the size of hexagon. 3. Method of splitting the dies to get the rim shape desired. As we have produced a steering wheel with a cast steel hub see PL.851 unless Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} especially requests it. We propose to do no more work on the alum. hub.
