Re Ignition - Section S150
Proposal Sheet No. 65

V4581

We submit the proposal to substitute De Jon ignition for the American Bosch ignition previously used.

About a year ago the American Bosch Company definitely announced that they would discontinue their ignition business and had transferred their rights to the Auto-Lite and De Jon companies.

It was, however, understood that the De Jon Company would continue to produce and supply to us parts identical with those made by the American Bosch. These arrangements however broke down when we came to an actual discussion with the De Jon Company, who agreed to make any changes we desired in their ignition to suit it to our requirements, meanwhile submitting parts for test.

These have now been run as indicated on the proposal sheet, with complete satisfaction.

The ignition coils, we should add, are a close replica of the American Bosch armoured coil which is wound with the primary on the outside and has no ballast resistance.

Detail improvements in the De Jon ignition have delayed the submitting of parts for test in England. These are now complete and a pair of ignition heads and coils is being sent under separate cover.

A full set of details and arrangement drawings of the De Jon head are attached to this report.
