satisfactory design has been proved, we should like to change over to the 'Japan' type of engine because we must make this change in order to enable us to use Twin carburetters which we think is what we shall eventually use.

The position, therefore, of the new 25 HP. which R.{Sir Henry Royce} has in mind is that we are waiting for W.W. instructions of how it should be built. You will remember that some time ago you agreed to us making a new 25 HP. experimental chassis. The number of this is 18-G4. The body for it is now practically ready.

The chief alterations on the chassis are -
New radiator and bonnet, and centre oiling to both axles.
These are important modifications which we wish to incorporate on all cars as far as possible.

As regards the power unit, we wish to fit the low inertia crankshaft damper and an improved dynamo drive. These are features which are giving trouble on the present car.
One of the points we have to settle with R.{Sir Henry Royce} at the first opportunity is the specification of the new 25 HP. car which he wishes us to make.

PHANTOM 11.

R.{Sir Henry Royce} instructed E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} that he should get out a design for making twin carburetters similar to those used on the aero engine. This satisfies us.

As regards R's memo re the loss of oil on front shock absorbers and damping. The present arrangement of front shock absorbers the scheme fitted to the left-hand car 24-EX and 18-EX is identical to that fitted to all Phantom 11
