Dear Sirs,

In reply to yours of the 20th inst' ROY{Sir Henry Royce}/JT.25.HP we have taken up this matter of the 2, 6-volt batteries which are to go into your steel box in the chassis frame, with our Works and we regret the mistake made. Our Works say that they think this job has been cut too fine and we could not get into your width unless the sides of the box were made 3/16" thick, which we think you will agree is too thin. They say, that as it was the dovetailing was almost entirely done away with when the corners were planed off and the box practically fell to pieces until the corner plates were fixed. If the corner plates are let in, this position will be much worse, and the screws to hold them would have to be about 3/16" long or there would be risk of damaging the containers. If you cannot give the 0.250" then our Works think that some other means of wedging the battery should be found rather than cut off the corners and putting on the steel corner pieces, which is rather an expensive job, and will increase the cost of the battery. They do not seem to think it is a very good job as it is at present and it ought to be got better.

Yours faithfully,

PETO & RADFORD.

(Sgd) G.R.N.Minchin.
