x1729A Hotel de France, Chateauroux. Indre. France. To Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} From G.W.H. Cadillac 7th November 1934. We tried the car on Montlhéry track yesterday before proceeding to Chateauroux. The car ran very well and gave no trouble during the tests. We got in touch with Sr. and he came down and tried it. The lap speed was 88.8 MPH. Water temperature remained normal and there was no sign of preignition. The car held the car very well with maximum control. We demonstrated the riding of the car on an atrocious piece of road behind the track. We have never had anything to approach the riding qualities. It is perfect, but for continental use the maximum damping is required. The chief complaint is that the steering be too low rated and the excessive quick return. We found to-day upon examining the car that the rear joint of the propellor shaft had come loose. Two bolts were only finger tight and the other two were not fully tight. An exhaust joint of the OS. manifold had become loose and had to be remade. Up to now we have had very bad weather, fog and rain 80% of the journey. [we enclose the tests taken on the track.] G.W.H. | ||
