X. 7430 To BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} c, to BJ. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rn.{Mr Robinson} DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}4/M12.3.27. EAC.7. STEERING GEOMETRY. Herewith we send N.schs. 2375 and 2377 on which we have made suggestions for improving the geometry of the above steering. We have sent prints to R.{Sir Henry Royce} and RG.{Mr Rowledge} for criticism and we expect that we shall get from R.{Sir Henry Royce} an idea of the lines on which he would like us to proceed. As R.{Sir Henry Royce} has instructed further experiments with the damped pendulum lever we think it is essential that we should retain that, otherwise a very straight forward method of improving the geometry would be to revert to the standard Phantom steering. It will be necessary for us to send you some instructions as to the modification to the steering box should the proposal on N.sch.2375 be adopted. In the meanwhile we should like Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rn.{Mr Robinson} to say what he thinks about the possibility of altering the car as indicated on N.sch.2377. If setting up the frame is out of the question we could design a temporary dumb iron and shackle we believe which would give the desired result. DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} | ||
