Ignition coil cases moulded with Bakelite Co.'s X616B material.

We have now conducted a road test on exple chassis 19EX with a standard ignition coil fitted into a case moulded of the new X616B material which is claimed to be as good as Redmanol.
The test consisted of placing a metal sheath, connected to the frame, round the outside of the coil case and heating up the coil on the engine in the normal way by running the engine with the cooling water temperature maintained firstly at 80°C for one hour and then at 100°C.
At each temperature the battery ignition was tested for misfiring principally on the "pick up" i.e. full load, full throttle and the ignition lever 2/3RDS retarded.
At 80°C no misfiring was apparent under any circumstances with normal battery voltage and charge off.
