BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} FROM DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} (BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} is crossed out) Copy to SC. (Crossed out) Copy to HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} PHANTOM 2. SUBFRAME. We send herewith R.{Sir Henry Royce} scheme 2993. shewing a layout of an enclosed limousine on the revised type of subframe. The object of this subframe is to combine the virtues of the straight and dropped type so that there may be in future one subframe. We have shewn it in connection with the widened dash. SC. will discuss with HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} how we can best test it. It will be noted that it shews a new type of C. steering which is obtained by dropping the wheel 1.5", without affecting the pedals. Will Derby please set this out. We shew on here also the 60" track at the rear, with wheel arches suitable for 20" wheels with 7" tyres. When sending prints of this drawing to WW., would you kindly return the original.
