18830 To R.{Sir Henry Royce} from EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} Copy to B.J. " LHS.{Lord Herbert Scott} " C. " Eg. " P.N. " GWB. " Cz. " Wer. " Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Re BARKER CONTINENTAL PHANTOM I inspected this body yesterday and gave Messrs. Barker the following dates:- Chassis arrives Feb. 5th. Delivery of complete car Feb. 14th. This programme will call for a special effort, but they realise that it must be done. I examined the body for all the defects which have been manifest on the Hooper one, and have found none of them. The screens are very satisfactory indeed, and I propose assisting Hoopers in bringing theirs up to such a high standard. There is no doubt in my mind that in the matter of hardware fittings, Barkers are vastly superior to Hoopers, because they have developed a very efficient machine shop for the production of dipping lamps. Would Sales kindly fix up with Barkers the wood which they would like for the instrument board. West WitteringHenry Royce's home town will send a sketch of a suitable arrangement of instruments. We propose fitting - A.T. Speedometer - small type with trip. Watford Clock. K.S. Petrol Gauge Elliott Ammeter Oil Gauge Thermometer and Warning Light Two flush fitting Dash Lamps. We feel that on this car we ought to fit a spot light on the off-side, and propose inspecting a Zeiss. This will be fitted to the screen side and not through the glass. Will Sales please say whether they wish a G.B. plate to be fitted now. We propose fitting one each side of the tail, and including it in the interior illumination scheme. This could be added later but it would be more easily done now. We have chosen a suitable twill for the hood. This must be very light in weight. | ||
