Luggage space fair but no "Parcel room". Acceleration figures. 10-30 m.p.h. in top - 12.2/5 secs. 0-50 " through the gears - 22.1/5 " 1939 STANDARD 9 SALOON - Mileage 5605. Engine Very quiet at low speeds; a trace of fuss over 50 m.p.h. but remarkably smooth. Gear Box 4 speed, synchro-mesh 2nd, 3rd and top. Smooth and light in operation. Gears can be crashed if used quickly. Gears, generally speaking, good but a trace of hum from the constant mesh wheels. Rear Axle Quiet at all speeds. Springing Fair Steering Very light and positive. Brakes Bendix - rather a lot of pressure required. Handbrake between the seats - very effective. Body Very quiet indeed. Good luggage space but not much "parcel room" in the body. Acceleration figures. 10-30 m.p.h. in top - 10.3/5 secs. 0-50 " through the gears - 23.4/5 " 1939 STANDARD 12 SALOON - Mileage 12,000. Engine Very smooth and very quiet at all speeds. Complete lack of fuss. Excellent starting from cold. Gear Box 4 speed, synchro-mesh 2nd, 3rd and top. Operation very light and smooth and all gears passable for noise. Rear Axle Quiet at all speeds. Springing Independent suspension on the front giving very flat cornering; an excellent ride generally. Slight noise in body on bad roads, apparently from the front suspension.
