VA8/ET.8.8.38 - 2 - We have twice written to Mr. Sert (B.28.DG) and Mr. Lacombe (B.33.CW) concerning the advisability of having a large oil pump fotted, but up to the time of writing, we have had no reply. Both these cars are fitted with Hall's metal big-ends. CHASSIS B.62.BN{W.O. Bentley / Mr Barrington} - Mrs. BEAUMONT - We sent to our Cannes Depot a large oil pump for the above car, with instructions that they should get into touch with the owner, who resides near Cannes during the summer months, and offer to fit the pump at a reduced price (the guarantee of this car expired on the 7.12.37), mentioning that it was in the interest of the owner, etc.. Our Cannes Depot have informed us that Mrs. Beaumont informed them that she will not go to the expense of having the large oil pump fitted because she wishes to trade in the car against a new Bentley this coming Motor Show. Our records show that, up to 21.2.38, this car had covered 20,300 miles. On 29.5.36, at 12,167 miles, we carried out an R.10 engine clean. All the bearings, as far as we know, are the original white metal ones. We do not know whether Works or "K" have carried out an R.20 engine clean since we carried out the R.10. As Commodore and Mrs. Beaumont are very good customers who have owned, and still own Rolls-Royce and Bentley cars, we should not like anything to happen to this car. Do you think that it would be advisable for us to fit a large pump and make no charge? VA. Vd | ||
