-2- Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}1/KW.15.6.36. The only way in which we can get a quick average result on the increase in brake squeaks likely to take place is to modify all the Bentley Trials cars at present running in London. We can run one of our own cars too, but we know brake squeaks are so elusive we shall require confirmatory evidence. Attached is a specification of the modification we recommend should be carried out on the Bentley London Trials cars immediately. At the end of a month's running we consider that it should be possible to make a decision whether to put the modification on production forthwith, and how far it should be applied retrospectively. This modification is actually bringing the Bentley more into line with 20/25 practice with regard to the arc of contact of the lining.
