Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/AFM.{Anthony F. Martindale}1/RW.13.6.36. Bentley Front Brake Judders. A very simple way of reducing the tendency to judder on Bentley cars now being built is to remove 1/2" of Ferodo from each end of each front brake shoe. To do this it is advisable to lock the tipping shoe solid, as removing 1½" from the toe of this shoe alters the centre of pressure. The pieces of Ferodo to be removed are marked on the two prints herewith. It will be seen that cutting away these pieces of friction lining means that 4 rivets in each shoe are no longer required. The rivets in the lining remaining are reasonably near the end so that there will be no tendency for the lining to curl up. We think it best to remove the lining right down to the shoe as then no amount of wear can alter the arc of contact. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/A.F.Martindale. | ||
