To CWB. from Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} c. to EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} /+8005 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}1/LG5.4.28. RUBBER ENGINE MOUNTING FOR PHANTOM. X8950 With reference to CWB3/GM.4.28. At the moment we have no parts we could fit to 81-RF car. We unfortunately used up all the sets we made and it will mean starting from the beginning. We are preparing our covered experimental car 8-EX with the new parts so that it represents the first modified Phantom, i.e., it will have - turbulent head, rubber engine mounting, new radiator, spare wheel at the rear etc. As soon as this car is ready, which we expect will be in 10 to 14 days, we will let you have it for 2 or 3 days in London to try it. We have been watching the effect of the rubber engine mounting and our impression is that it neither improves or makes the low speed vibrations any worse. The higher compression used on the sports car, we think was the cause of the increase in vibrations felt on that car. R.{Sir Henry Royce} is running a covered car fitted with rubber engine mounting and it is certainly very good for absence of vibrations - therefore, we suggest that you wait until you have tried 8-EX before we do anything further with 81-RF.car.
