Dear Sirs,

This is to let you know that we have got your second steering running an endurance test, which should give us an indication of how it should wear. The one running on the road has so far given us every satisfaction.

Our Accounts Dept. have queried your invoices for the two steerings of £28.7.0., as I told them that the figure per steering would be about £6.0.0. since we were using standard parts. We understood that in production quantities the price of the steering as supplied to us was £3.15.0. Perhaps you would clear this up.

We are considering trying out a Marles Weller gear on one of our smaller cars. We attach two blueprints which indicate the principle dimensions of the steering at present fitted, and a print shewing the bracket by which it is supported at the top of the frame. As you will see, there is nothing likely to foul it. The weight on the front axle of the car is about 14 cwt. We should be glad to know if you have a stock size of steering which would be suitable for this job. If so we could doubtless build it up to our standard column as we did for the Phantom II.

Yours faithfully,

For Rolls Royce Limited.
