Dear Sirs, We are much obliged to you for your favour dated the 16th inst., reference as above, and are very much interested to hear that the first sample steering we supplied, which is running on the road, is still giving every satisfaction. We shall also be extremely interested to hear the result of the endurance test which you are now running, on the second gear we have supplied. As regards the invoices for the two gears, you will no doubt appreciate that these had to be specially made in a number of directions, which of necessity brings the cost up very considerably. The figure given by the writer to your Mr. Rowbotham when in Derby was as stated at the time, the figure for our standard gear on a quantity basis, and for the gear by itself, without drop arm or other items. We have looked into our costs for the manufacture of these two sample gears, and we would confirm that the price is correct, as submitted to you. As a matter of fact, the cost to us was actually greater than the figure invoiced to you. As regards the last paragraph of your letter, we are extremely pleased to hear that you are considering trying out a Marles-Weller Steering Gear on one of your smaller cars, and | ||
