X.3888. - RE PETROL TANK. With further reference to the petrol tank, we send herewith a sketch of the reserve fuel device. You may find a better general arrangement but I think the principle shewn is about as simple as possible, considering its advantages which are that there should be no petrol leak or air leak through the movement of the cock, and the needle valve face cannot be damaged because it is only subject to the pressure of the spring. The little casting at the level of the reverse petrol has a horizontal central hole leading to the needle valve, and two vertical holes leading past the needle valve to the pipe "A". You may find a slightly better arrngement in connection with the hand lever which will be less affected by grit, such as an internal screw and cap over the end of the valve spindle.
