COPY. Ve/NP.5/CB. 10th July, 1941. Lt. S. Howes, H.M.S. Beehive, FELIXSTOWE. Dear Sir, We understand from our Mr. Davidson that you are interested in the automatic version of the 2-pdr. Mark XIV Gun on the Powered Mounting, and we have pleasure in enclosing, for your information, two photographs of the equipment and two drawings QPL.176 and QPL.160 showing the installation on boats. The gun with mounting weighs approximately half a ton and fires Mark VIII H.V. ammunition at a rate of 120 to 130 rounds per minute. We should be very pleased to show you the method of operation if you could manage to come to Derby, but would mention that the gun will be going to the Army for trial in a week's time. In giving this information, we would point out that Commander Young with other officers of D.N.O. have taken a personal interest in this weapon and we assume that if you wish to take any official action, you will get in touch with these officers. Yours faithfully, for ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED. (S.M. Viale) | ||
