3.S.I. SPECTRECodename for Phantom III.

We have received your memo. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} IO/KW of 29/6/35.

We note your remarks re over-oiling. We have not as yet tackled the job.

We have been carrying out tests to-day, to determine our Clutch case pressure and Crankcase pressure.

We are at a loss to know, how the 6" water pressure was obtained. The position the pressure is taken, makes a lot of difference.

We have taken our pressures behind the Flywheel as near to the bearing as it was possible to get.
The following are the pressures obtained.
( Average of three tests)

Speed. Clutch cover on Cover off. 1/2 of a

20 0.2 0.1 " water 0.2 0.1 " 0.2 0.1 "
30 0.50 0.25 " 0.4 0.2 " 0.50 0.25 "
40 0.90 0.45 " 0.6 0.3 " 0.90 0.45 "
50 1.50 0.75 " 1.10 0.55 " 1.40 0.70 "
60 2.20 1.10 " 1.90 0.85 " 1.90 0.95 "
70 2.90 1.45 " 2.30 1.15 " 2.50 1.25 "
80 3.50 1.75 " 2.90 1.45 " 3.12 1.6 "

The Crankcase pressure is as follows.
