Re. 43-GX. - BARON EMPAIN.

Replying to C.7/C2.7.31.

We are not surprised to hear that the Continental model car is no faster, or not quite as fast, as the standard car. We have already had confirmation of this on our own tests on Brooklands. It is therefore very improbable that Hs {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} /GWH. {George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux} would be able to help our Paris Depot to show more speed on this car.

As we have already pointed out, the only suggestion we can make is to fit a high compression head. We should expect that this may increase the maximum speed by two or three miles/hour, and improve the performance at low speed, which may make this customer happy.

There is no difficulty about fitting the new cylinder head. Paris could do this quite well. The difficulty is to obtain one of these high compression heads, as they have to be specially made. We have made enquiries and we find that we could send one of these heads to Paris in ..... days. We then recommend that after the head has been fitted Hm. {Capt. W. Hallam - Head Repairs} could get in touch with Hs {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} /GWH. {George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux} if he wishes.
